Hi! I'm going to give you a review on Jill Duggars favorite book. I'm sure all the other Duggar sisters enjoy it also. I don't know if Joy-Anna has yet had the pleasure but since she is almost 12 I'm sure she will be reading it soon...
First a bit about me. I'm a 32 year old single female. I was born and raised Catholic and still follow that faith. I am not a fudie and I believe this book is pretty much geared toward them.
I was shocked at how many people liked this book but they all are Fudies (AKA Fundamentalists) also so, who knows...
Sarah Mally is the author and she starts the book out thanking everyone BUT God and if she has a husband, I wouldn't know since she never says "My wonderful Husband____" like Michelle Duggar does every week on 18 Kids and Counting... She thanks her dad first then her Mom... and everyone else who helped edit and draw the pictures. The pictures from what I can see are simple. I'm not an artist but I'm sure someone in the 7th grade could draw it too. I have to remind myself most girls who are reading this are homeschooled... keep that in mind also.
Well Sarah Mally has a problem... (this is in Note From the Author) it seems that over that last 8 or 9 years her dad and her have talked about purity and she gets a lot of questions from other mothers on the topic. They want book suggestions and Sarah well she could give them some but they are mostly on romance and purity. She really had a difficult time recommending a book to younger girls who are pure and protected- all the other books she has read seem to be written to young people who have already made mistakes (AKA someone kissed and/or dated before being married. It does not necessarily mean they had sex).
Sarah also makes a note to the lover of Old English: it is not her intent to duplicate proper Old English. So in other words bear with her inconsistencies and incomplete usage, for it is her desire to give only an Old English flavor. In other words, she didn't want to do any research on Old English when writing the story... because that might be too much work (???) I'm adding the last part. Please be aware I will snark most of this book I’m only on the note from the author and I already am...
She also suggests that the parents may want to read this book together with their young daughter and discuss each chapter with her. It is also recommended for small group Bible studies, Sunday school classes and Bright Lights groups (If you’re a Duggar fan I'm sure it is used around the homeschool dining room table or the church of the holy basement.)
She tells the reader, "May the Lord bless you richly as you seek God's very best and as you purpose to shine with radiant purity.
So here is how I want to do this. I will read a chapter or two a day. Each chapter will be on a separate page. I am thinking you can snark on it at TWOP or the Discovery Health website forum. You can also snark on it here at the forum I made since I don't want TWOP to be mad at me :)
Well Enjoy- I know I might.
***Disclaimer- I typed all this quick and I am apologize for grammar mistakes. I would have loved to submit it like an English class paper but it is summer. I just wanted to pre-warn you.
